About this role
Currently recruiting a Registered Nurse (RN) - Postpartum in Bethesda, Maryland, to work in the Labor & Delivery Unit at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to provide care to Active Duty heroes, their family members, and retirees. REQUIREMENTS OF THE RN-POSTPARTUM: Coordinate patient care through a continuum and facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness. Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources including time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.Maintain excellent patient assessment skills. Use the nursing process as a basis for professional practice. The contracted RN will demonstrate proper preparation of patient s for treatments and procedures, to include surgical interventions. Evaluate effectiveness of self, care given by all health team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes. Perform/assist with clinic specific procedures, in accordance with established policies, and guidelines used in the MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Evaluate effectiveness of self, care given by all health team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes.Skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, nebulizers and other clinic specific equipment.Excellent oral communication skills for patient/family education. Prescribes and communicates treatment plans in accordance with established Labor and Delivery protocols as prescribed in MTF policies and procedures and IAW JC guidelines. Contractor RNs shall provide proper care and evaluation of post-procedural patients.Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate ad
