About this role
Data Analyst Summer Internship Systems & Technology Research (STR) is a growing technology company. We specialize in advanced research and development for defense, intelligence, and national security. We are seeking a Data Analyst Intern to support data analysis, business systems, process improvement, and operational documentation across STR. This is an in-person role out of our Arlington, VA or Woburn, MA site. This position will provide hands-on experience in data interpretation, reporting, workflow analysis, software applications, and the development of standardized procedures and training materials. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data visibility, streamline business processes, maintain accurate documentation, and support operational efficiency. Responsibilities In this role, you will: • Assist with collecting, organizing, validating, and analyzing data to support business operations and internal decision-making. • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, and data trackers using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools. • Analyze data trends, identify discrepancies, and summarize findings to support operational reporting and process improvement initiatives. • Support the use and administration of business systems, software applications, databases, and other operational tools. • Evaluate existing workflows and business processes to identify inefficiencies, opportunities for improvement, and potential areas for automation or standardization. • Assist with documenting business processes, developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and maintaining clear, consistent process documentation. • Create training documentation, instructional materials, and presentations to support employee education and the adoption of business systems and processes. • Develop and update user guides, training materials, and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and applicable content development tools such as Articulate. • A
