About this role
We are looking for an Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity based in Riverdale, Maryland. This role is ideal for someone who can keep financial records accurate, organized, and current while partnering with internal teams on daily accounting activities. The position will focus on maintaining ledgers, processing transactions, and ensuring reconciliations and entries are completed in a timely manner.Responsibilities:• Manage day-to-day accounting transactions across payables and receivables to maintain accurate financial records.• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and attention to reporting deadlines.• Reconcile bank activity regularly, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.• Maintain and review general ledger accounts to support completeness and accuracy of financial data.• Process vendor invoices and payment activity while helping ensure obligations are recorded correctly and on time.• Monitor incoming payments, apply cash receipts, and follow up on outstanding balances as needed.• Assist with month-end accounting tasks by organizing records and supporting account analysis.• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address transaction issues and improve day-to-day accounting accuracy.
