About this role
Accountant – Government Contracting Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team. This is a hands-on role with responsibility across month-end close, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, compliance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in federal government contracting accounting, along with experience supporting month-end close and accounts payable operations. This position is well suited for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work, collaborating across teams, and ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, compliant, and audit-ready. This position requires working onsite in our Tysons Corner, VA office four (4) days per week, with one remote day per week. Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & General Ledger • Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and company policies. • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting documentation. • Prepare monthly bank and credit card reconciliations. • Analyze account balances and financial variances and provide clear explanations to management. • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation. • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business and leadership decisions. Accounts Payable & Transaction Processing • Oversee day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing. • Ensure timely and accurate processing and recording of vendor invoices, vendor payments, billings, and customer payments. • Ensure AP transactions comply with FAR requirements, internal controls, and company policies. • Maintain positive vendor relationships and research and resolve
